I need help making a desert high way road in maya, one for main road and one that's sorta like a gravel road. I been looking all over google and cant really find a nice tutorial to make a nice detailed road. Thanks in advanced!

Ok since no one answered this one yet, I'll post my reply I originally refrained from because it seems so obvious:

The most obvious way would be to create a simple polygon road, which only needs to be 1 poly thick but with enough resolution in U and V to bend as needed. The real work is in the texture you'd apply to it. You'll need nice detail, but you'll be repeating (tiling) it. Also you may want to add bump or normal maps for enhanced depth. The good thing with roads is that in a image sequence there's a high chance you'll be "travelling" quickly over it, maybe even with added motion blur, so you don't have to worry about details as much.
Simply look for good asphalt textures, for example here (http://www.cgtextures.com/textures.php?t=browse&q=350) or here (http://goodtextures.com/index.php?catID=85). You could then use something like NVIDIA's normal map filter (http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html) to create additional normal maps.
