Oh god, I feel like such an idiot. I've been wanting to play around with Character Studio for a while, but didn't want to buy it.

So, there I was, playing around with my documentation, and low-and-behold, it's damn well bundled with my software.

I don't know if it actually came with 3d Studio Max 5, or if the company that bought me my license also bought Character Studio.

Can anyone clarify whether it comes with it, without extra payment, or if you have to pay for it, even though its bundled?

If you can create a Biped, then you have a license. Command Panel, Create tab, then the gear icon I think, then Biped.

If no license, then you can't create or edit Bipeds.

there are various versions to it some dont ship with CS.. and you have to get it separate... I had this same question until I found out where it was hiding. I thought it was 2 separate aplications. like in Ligthwave, (modeler, and ligthwave), what version of max are you using?

Posm is right just follow the directions and if you dont have it then it will ask you for the cd key and authorization numbers. Just call discreet, or ask around in your local colleges for student discounts. :)
