hi

im sure this has been shown how to fix/solution before somewhere, but i've tried searching all google and youtube and the forums here, but im not getting anything i need, i think im searching with the wrong keywords, so please help and direct me to the right page, or reply with a solution here!

should be a quickie.. thanks

well

i have a moving truck im modeling and texturing. i put words on the truck's sides (like name of the moving company) , then i duplicated this half of the truck to get the other half, we do it all the time, model and texture half a model then just mirror it over.

but when i do duplicate the model, and transform it in "-1" , the words on this duplicated half are mirrored, literally, and reads reversed. i want the words to flip over so they are in the right direction..

my uv's are already packed tightly for this first half of the model, i dunno what to do to get the words to flip correctly..

here's some pictures to help get my idea.. :l

When you duplicate and then rescale to a negative value, this flips your geometry's normals. So basically, even though the UVs seem to to be flipped correctly (have the same winding order as the original model's UVs), since you're actually viewing the polygon's rear side, your looking at the texture "from behind".
Imagine you were inside the truck: if the side planes were slightly transparent, you'd see the texture on the outside, but reversed, which is natural.

Select the duplicate and goto Normals->Reverse. Note that the normal reversing occurs after you freeze the transformations on the duplicated geometry. You can avoid this problem by not duplicating the model, but selecting the geometry and chosing Mesh->Mirror Geometry.
Not that this also reverses your UVs winding order, so you will have to flip them or you might run into similar problems when rendering.

Hope this helped.
