View Full Version : How to make spec map ?

google is definitely your friend in this case. But briefly put it is only a black and white image that tells the material how much to reflect/be specular. So grab your color map, desaturate it. If your material is really shiny/reflective make it closer to white, if it is duller make it closer to black. There ya go :-)

hi, desaturating you color map doesnt necessarily give you good results neither for bump nor for spec map. i think the color map is a good starting point but you as an artist need to rethink the image and represent it in black and white info for the different maps. keep in midn. sometimes spec and bump map look very different from each other.
