View Full Version : NEED HELP GAME Modeling vs. Animation Modeling
Yasuelf1 03-11-2010, 08:30 PM I just got a model that I am supposed to retypologize but I am super confused. I am used to high poly objects for animation but this is a low poly character for a game. When I was in animation triangles were a big no no and well as poles. This character has them all over. Is it normal for a game character to have triangles and poles? Please let me know. Its super important

Yes, it's normal and in many cases, required.

simple reason being animation meshes are subdivided at render time, and game characters are never subdivided, thus the artifacts caused by triangles are a non-issue.
plus most if not all game engines take triangulated meshes anyway
