I am very curious about the Bluetooth Wacom. I am just worried about the potential for delay. Anyone ventured into this unknown?

I'll start by saying I've never used the Bluetooth Graphire, but Bluetooth is more than capable of transmitting the data without delay. Though I'd never get one anyway because its a Graphire. No tilt sensitivity (at all), cheap feeling and tiny mouse and pen, and its almost as expensive as the wired Intuos equivalent. For the money the Intuos is a much better tablet if you can live with the wire. Cheers!

I was referring to the Intuos Wireless actually.

Good call! I didn't realize there was such a thing, before Intuos 4 there was only Graphire for wireless.

I have found one review (http://gizmodo.com/5489191/wacom-intuos-4-wireless-review-the-joy-of-freedom) of it thus far.

Sounds promising

Hey moto,

I will be publishing my official review of the Intuos 4 Wireless soon. There were a bit of delays due to some problems with some Wacom drivers and the bluetooth pairing. Wacom has ironed that out pretty quickly and now the tablet works like a dream.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try and address them.

As far as your original question, the answer is: what delay? lol

There is no noticeable lag from my tests when working in bluetooth mode. The response is just as quick as being plugged into the USB cable.

Again, I'll have my review up here soon in the next few days, but if you have any questions, just ask!

That sounds great. I am thinking seriously about it and will look forward to your review.

nice that there's no lag. I wouldn't really buy one anyway since I hate any wireless lag at all but if it doesn't seem perceptible, then that's good.

Hey cgbeige,

I was worried about the lag too, but there's definitely no lag at all from my tests with various programs like Photoshop and Painter. It definitely runs very smooth. If you're REALLY particular about the wireless, then don't use it! Haha, the beauty of the I4 WL is if you prefer to not use the wireless then just remove the lithium battery, and plug in the USB and you practically have the Intuos 4 Medium.

When or if you do decide to go wireless, then you have the option to do so at any time.

ah - that's cool. The only time I could see using a wireless is for my smaller 4x6 that I take to cafés when I want to work away from home. Not having to worry about a cord would be handy for that. Is there an added cost for the wireless?

The average MSRP for the Intuos 4 Medium right now is I think $349 and the Intuos 4 WL (comes in Medium only) is at $399. I'm sure there are e-tailers that will give discounts on these so those MSRP's are just based on Wacom's site.

Is the $50 dollar difference worth it?

For me, I'd say so. Most of my PCs/Macs are equipped with bluetooth, So literally I just turn the unit off, pick it up and go from one station to the next, pair up and I'm good to go. No plugging USB cords (except to charge of course).

The tablet also has an idle feature so when it's not in use it turns itself off, and instantly turns back on and pairs itself automatically when you touch the pad or press one of the keys. Great way to save power, lol.

Also to update you guys, I'll have my review up on Sunday which will go through most of the things I've just mentioned in detail.

Keep the questions coming though as I don't mind revising it to answer anything that may come up or that people are wondering about!

too bad there's only one size. It's too small to be a good workstation tablet and too big to be a portable. I couldn't put it next my MacBook Pro on a cafe table. Is the space around the tablet area larger than the Intuos3? I want more desktop real estate - not less :p

Depends, the Intuos 3 came in a regular and wide edition if I remember correctly. The wide, more closely resembles the Intuos 4 WL. It's may even be slightly wider than the 2 or 3.

On another note, I did finish my review and is now ready!

Check it out here. (http://www.pctechadvice.com/articles-and-reviews/intuos-4-wireless-review/)

Let me know if you guys have any further questions. I'll be glad to answer them. Thanks!

Hi,
I got a question about the Intous 4 wireless. Not sure if this is the right topic or if i should make a new thread - but here it goes :)

I am considering to get my first tablet and I have been looking at the various Intous 4 models. As for the size I kinda settled on medium or wireless - but I see the wireless version is just a little bit smaller than the medium.
I am not completely sure that I will get much benefit from a wireless version, so I am a bit in doubt if I should go buy the medium or wireless? On the other hand it's always good to have the option of being wireless in case I find the cable anyoing in one way or the other. I will not be carrying it around with me a lot.

They're so close in price so that shouldn't really influence my decision. So what do you think? :)

Shad0wDK,

I would still consider the Wireless version because it is better to have the option than not have it at all.

Accessory wise you will lose the mouse (included with the nonwireless) but I never used the one that came with it so it's not a big deal for me.

As far as the size go, I don't think you'll notice much of the difference. If you were deciding over a medium and large then yeah that's definitely a big change.

I think my biggest favorite with the WL version is I can pick it up off my table and just sit back rather than have a dangling cord. If you have an HTPC or a computer hooked up to your big screen it's even cooler because you can sit on your couch and just draw from there rather than having to worry about a long cord.

When I am sitting at work or home pc though, I do plug in directly to either charge the battery or not use the battery at all for long drawing sessions.

So yeah like I said, it's nice to have the option.

Let me know if you have any questions. Bottom line though is you can't go wrong with either!

Thanks for your reply.
And yeah, it might be good to have the option of wireless even though I would probably just use it at my desk all the time right now. If you don't think the size difference will be noticeable there aren't really any reason not to go with the wireless model. It is a little difficult for me to judge though, as I'm not familiar with using tablets.

But I think I go with the wireless one, thanks for your help :)

I'd like to ask one more thing. Since my desktop doesn't have bluetooth I will need a dongle for it (I thought it would be included with the wacom, but apparently it's not). So I was wondering if you have any idea if there are any differences worth noting between the different brands? Or should I just go with the cheapest I can find?

I figured out I should just go with some cheap dongle, and I was just about to order the tablet, but then I got puzzled about the charging of the battery. Isn't it a bit inconvenient if your computer needs to be turned on in order for the battery to charge? Or I could use some sort of USB charger, but then it's getting a bit cumbersome in case I wanted to use it wired..
