View Full Version : No gizmos and ´X´ wont work
Lolec 03-10-2010, 09:33 PM My transform gizmos disapeared, usualy pressing X would bring them back but it does not work.
When it happened to me before, even if i couldn´t see the gizmos I saw some indicators of the 3 axis, I dont see that either.
I was wondering if theres some kind of RESET INTERFACE button that will reset every hotkey misstype.

Just a guess...
It is possible to resize the transform gizmo.
So maybe you scaled it down (by accident) so much that it aint vissible anymore?

good idea, but didnt work :(. Also I tried scaling down the gizmo in a friends computer and even if you reach the smallest size you can see the X Y Z, and in my case I dont see that.
Im searching everywhere for a RESET SETTINGS button, with so many hotkey to accidentally activate, this is a must have.
Anyway, thanks ill keep searching

SOLVED
Theres a way to reset all settings ( or any specific if you whant) locate 3dsmax.ini
on XP C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\<version>\enu
Vista and 7 C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsmax\<version>\enu
Close 3dsmax and delete the ini file, that will reset all settings, if you open it with any text editor you can find the exact setting and delete it.
Dont worry if you delete it. 3dsMax creates a new one when it starts.

Hi, I think you can solve this issue by simply going into Menu "Views" and make sure "Show Transform Gizmo" is checked. If you don't know that there is this option too, it can drive you crazy.

Lolec tnx for the tip it worked.been loosing my hair for the last 3hours tring to figure out weather its a max bugg or is it me doing something wrong. plus it crashed about 10 times just tring to build a AEC Wall.
im very new at max but already i feel like its one of those long time relationships you just want to get out of already. hopefully i will be able to build a simple wall now.

Glad this post was here, very useful!
Could not get gizmo back up and running without deleting that .ini file.
Thanks!
