CGTalk - opacity in patterns

I have a grid of tv screens and I need a way to quickly try different sequences of them turning on. So one sequence could be: turning them on from right to left row by row, sequentially turning them on from left to right, diamond pattern etc.

Is there a way to set things up so I could make changes to the order they turn on without doing it all by hand. I was thinking about doing it with expressions but didn't know how to set it up so I could get complex sequences like turning on the outside tv's and working in sequentially.

Any ideas?

Effect --> Simulation --> Card Dance
Effect --> Transition --> Card Wipe

All you need.
