"The short-lived TV series "Firefly" is moving to the big screen. After taking his "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" feature film and turning it into a successful TV series, Joss Whedon is about to do the reverse with another one of his creations. Whedon has teamed with Universal Pictures to turn "Firefly," a TV cult favorite, into a feature film."

SWEEETTTT.....I was a big fan of the show so I think it would be cool as hell if they made a film. It might even spark enough interest to bring back the show.

While I am always a fan of more CG work == a good thing, I definately think this is a mistake on Joss's part.

The series, while it did have a few good shows, didn't have any ratings. Audience was just not interested. Taking it to the movies will only test this theory on a mjor bomb scale :\

Good luck to him though.

I tend to agree with amorano on this one. I watched the show mainly because it was done by Joss and with LW. BUt I can;t imagine what a full feature movie could accomplish except lots of dents and bruises. But will admit that if anybody could pull something like this off it could be Joss. Hmm, maybe if he threw a few vamp's/demons a sexy slayer into the story line then maybe!?!?!

box office ;)

That's because of stupid FOX. First they didn't even show the original pilot, so we had no idea who any of these characters were. Then they would show it one week and then not show it another week. I would sit down to watch it some nights to find it wasn't on. It's kind of hard for an audience to catch on when lame stuff like that happends.

Same thing happend to Family Guy, Futurama, The Tick, etc... Family Guy and Futurama reruns are beating out Letterman in the 11:00 time slot on cartoon network, so obviously people like these shows that FOX deemed not worthy. Sometimes networks don't even give a show a chance.

Also, for those of you that are fans of the show, the dvd of the series is comming out on December 9th. There were 3 other episodes that they did that Fox didn't even show(sad shame since the show costs 2 million an episode).

I think we should start a petition to bring back the family guy, i love that show and i can't get enough of it! Maybe cartoon network will buy the rights this time and keep it going! Grrrr i hate fox, but back on topic, this will at least be worth a watch don't you think.... Who cares really if it flops, its no skin of my back really :) plus its a good idea to see people actually take some risks in hollywood (im sooo soooooo sick of black cop white cop, teen movies and comic book movies i want a real movie for a change)
