I sure am glad I'm lazy and haven't ever updated my video card drivers.
They had better replace the cards. Otherwise, it'll look like this was meant to happen (and so close to the release of their 4xx/3xx line too.)

are you serious. i just updated and did a bench test of the fx 3800 with that driver yesterday. i went to nvidia.com to see if this was really true and for both quadro and geforce the drivers are reverted to 191.87 and 196.21
its a good thing i visit here and engadget on a regular basis when i am at work because i was going to do a benchamrk for the fx 3700 and 4800 today with that driver.
thank goodness i didn't update my 8800gt with this driver as yet.

The driver version for my GTX 275 according to system information in windows 7 is 8.17.11.9621.
Still learning my way around win7 but I hope that doesn't correspond to the driver version being discussed here.

My condolences. And a moment of silence for the fallen heroes...

The 196.21 driver seems just fine. At least, my 7950GT isn't smoking. I did screw an old AMD CPU fan into the heatsinks, blowing down, but that's an unrelated issue! I guess they didn't make fans for flagship GPU's back in the 7950's...
And yes, the new calendar is based on Geforce releases that year, no longer Anno Domini.
