Hi Guys,
i have a long 4k animation to render, so i don't think i'll make it on my workstation.
i have the option to render it on a super computer but the problem that the super computer running on Linux redhat and my animation with 3ds max and the render engine is mental ray
i heard about Wine thing (to setup a windows applications on Linux) but that will make a problem because it will take the performance really down

so if any body can give me a hand with that will be appreciated .... thanks in advance

I have no first hand experience with this, but I have read a bit into the subject simply because I wanted to know what the heck it was.... Look up Mental Ray Stand Alone. It's compatible with Linux and should let you render a file that you set up for it, away from your 3D Studio Max installation.

If the Linux machines have mental ray stand alone then you can export the archive from Max and render it anywhere (with a few limitations). I don't use Max but its probably in the documentation, look for archive export or MI export. Cheers!

EDIT: They beat me to it.
