View Full Version : Painter and 3d decals textures
binder3d 09-03-2003, 03:38 PM Sorry I posted this iin the open forum I figure its better as a new thread-I hope!;)
Alright!!! Painter forum!!! Love it.
Question. I heard that Painter 8 has a hard time with tiff and targa files with alpha channels to use for texturing or decaling ina 3d app. When you use PShop there isnt a problem. But I read in the Painter list forum that it cant handle this well. Anyone have any luck using a Painter file for a texture map in a 3d app?

Hmmm...I have Painter 7 and I tried to make some textures with it...but the alpha channel messed up. I had to bring it into photoshop and fix it up. I thought it was only me:D

So how do we get this fixed? Bug Corel? Do we have to bring the file into PShop and save it from there? i cant imagine Corel not fixing this. Anyone we can bug?

Yep,
There's someone you can "bug".
Write directly to Corel Painter Program Manager Rick Champagne at:
rick.champagne@corel.com
Make your request clear and explain why it's important in your work. Tell him what you do for a living. Let him know it matters in your workflow.
Good luck,

funny, i was _just_ thinking it might be fun to use Painter to create textures for my 3d model... but now i see it probably won't work :(

I dunno, I pretty much only use painter for painting of texture maps. With careful use of painting on layers you can bring your file into another program to create an alpha map if you really need it.
