Hey guys,

So I posted this earlier but it seems to have disappeared, or maybe it didn't post properly at all... or it was in the wrong spot? I don't know. If this is the case, please let me know and I'll post it elsewhere, don't just delete :(

Anyways, I am working on a 3D scene, a fairly small one, that I am just going to be using a screencap rendering from. But I had a question about texturing and using Zbrush.

I am wondering if it is easier to texture something in Maya, and then Zbrush it to sculpt it and detail, or if I should Zbrush and then texture it after?

I would think the best way would be to texture it and then bring into Zbrush so I can form the texture a bit better and make them more realistic?... not sure... any advice?

Thanks.

texture After, because sculpting will stretch the vertices, and will stretch the UVs. It would be a good habit to double check the UV distortion on the low res mesh before baking any maps.

Also, its not worth the effort to try and match the sculpt to the texture, its far easier to do so at the texture stage. Mostly because normal maps, AO maps, and cavity maps can provide 75% of the data needed in creating a good texture map.
