Petition: Shave and Haircut for LW

Its been years since Shave and a Haircut - a hair/fur shader that was really only for Lightwave have now become a industry standard and is available for every app but Lightwave.
As Lightwave sorely needs a wide variety of hair solutions, maybe the users of Lightwave can convince Joe to comeback even though there is a rift between him and Newtek.

I don´t wanna rain on your parade but it´s not available for cinema 4D either. And as an old customer of it when it was (some years ago) I must say I am glad it isn´t anymore. His licensing philosophy was arrogant, unflexible and the app wasn´t as good as it could have been. Poor amount of updates with mostly little improvements, bad support, absolutely no way of license reselling. To cut a long story short, it was a complete disaster and I honestly don´t know how this works for any other app out there but make yourself a gift and do NOT wish it to come back to LW if you want LW to stand for quality. You better wish Newtek puts some development time and money in a project and develop an own hair system instead. There are enough algorithms out there to accomplish this task for a company like Newtek.
(oh and you can ask any other c4d user that had a Shave license and he will tell you the same)

Hmm, you must have been using a different Shave and a Haircut. For all of the inherent LW issues I thought it did a pretty good job and it was a snap to work with. I think it would take a lot to get Joe back though.

S&H DID do a good job, but the way Joe left the community with everything up in the air... we are better off without him. You figure if he can just up and leave and screw everyone over whenever he feels like it, who wants THAT kind of vender? And considering he's got other software avenues of income, he wouldn't blink an eye leaving again if he got pissed. I remember quite clearly the last exchanges on the S&H forum and I don't want THAT kind of person in the LW community. Obviously my opinion. I would hope that Worley will update Sasquatch to work with CORE and it will be several orders of magnitude better than S&H. We shall see.

I would prefer if Worley could make a new version of Sasquatch. There are plenty of new stuff in classic LW (and the SDK) to allow for a much better integration, for example.

EDIT: And I see that being far closer to actually happen, compared to trying to get Joe Alter back to develop for LW.

I'd also like to see Shave support for Core. More options are better and so is competition.
Sas and the current hair solution LW offers is not happening in my opinion. We need a pro level solution.

I don't know if I would even bother with Sas for classic LW. Even though classic LW will be around for quite some time, I think I would prefer Worley (seriously) focusing on the NEW LW as opposed to the old. Unless of course you could port MOST of the code with relative ease. And only Worley could answer this anyway.
