Skip this paragraph if you think reading a short first post- / hello world-style story is dull.
Since I started with 3D software at the age of 13, I have long periods of doing nothing with this fun little hobby. This time, I have turned my head towards it again, after a three year pause. My skillset has always been limited to my adolecent mind, but as I have turned 20, my artistic awareness and visions have matured, as have my will to learn the dull way. Text, text and more text.
I am looking for a consise and theoretical resources for the subject. I am not looking for tutorials, but perhaps a book which fit the title the principles of modeling and/or animation. What I am looking for is something that can tell me the do's and dont's of modeling along with a more theoretical explanation of the process of modeling. I need a resource which is software independent. If it is, then my area of interest is Lightwave and Rhinoceros. Under is a set of subject I am interested in. Does not include currently not discovered areas of joy.
Polygon- vs NURBS modeling.
Techniques in subdivision modeling.
The major tools and how they can be used.
Concept -> Planning -> Modeling -> Animation -> Fun -> Self consciousness
Edge-loop modeling
Organic modeling
Non-organic modeling
Of course, I am not just looking for textbook-resources. I'd also like some direct input with motivational pointers and personal tips and tricks. I'd be thankful for any replies.
