hey all, i'm looking to buy a new computer. my budget is $4,000. i do a lot of heavy computational 3d computer animation, compositing and visual effects (maya, 3dsmax, boujou, z-brush, after effects, photoshop, flash). i also use it to compose and perform live music using ableton live, reason, my guitar and various midi controllers. i'm not sure what kind of hardware/OS is best for the money nowadays for this kind of work and thought you folks may have some insight. i'm not very tech savvy so if there's less setup i have to do to make this computer what would best for me than another computer i'll likely go for the former. any ideas?
thx,
zach

Look around at some of the other buying a new computer threads that have around the same budget as yours.

Buy the same style computer suggested about 200x over in other similar threads. Spend the extra money (since your budget is enough forat least 2 high end machines) on a really good, color accurate monitor from NEC or Eizo.
