If it's a license error Code 1, then there are two possible causes. First that you have installed 3ds max 4.x on a Windows XP system but not applied the C-Dilla 3.27 update (available at http://www.discreet.com/support/max in the downloads section) OR, you have a virus on your system.
The virus is most often the Klez or related virus. You should scan your system either way.
Hope this helps.

There was a virus on my pc win32 i thought i got it all cleared up must look in to it Thanx again:beer:
Klez is one of hte Win32 viruses. If you have indeed cleared it up, you may just need to reinstall 3ds max. The 3ds max executable cannot be cleaned by antivirus software. It must be reinstalled in order for the program to work.

still not working.......mind.....fading.....need....to...created......3d.....models
Try this...
1) Make sure the virus is gone as best you can.
2) Uninstall C-Dilla from the add remove programs.
3) Uninstall 3ds max and delete the 3ds max folder. (DO NOT delete the C_Dilla folder or you will loose your license.
4) Reboot the system.
5) Install 3ds max from the CD, do not run it.
6) Install the current version of C-Dilla (skip this step if you just installed 3ds max 5.1)
7) Reboot the system.
8) Launch max.
If it fails to start, your still infected with the virus in some manner.
