Hi there,

Can anyone please explain what I'm doing wrong?
I need to obtain results similar to those shown in the max help file, see following image (http://www.jdlprod.com/temp/pushmod.jpg)

But instead I get this: image (http://www.jdlprod.com/temp/pushmod_bad.jpg)

These are the steps I followed:
1. Create a plane: 32 x 32 segs
2. convert it to an Editable Mesh
3. With the Circle selection select a circular area of vertices
4. While at SubObj level, add the Push Mod
5. enter value: 3
this is it.

Unfortunately the description in the help file doesn't really explain much as to how to get those results.

Thanks in advance,

DrPepperCan

The difference is the normals. In the Max example, the surface is curved, so the normals are in different directions. In your example, all of the normals point "up", so Push pushes them "up".

Select a vert in a middle. Turn on Soft Select and tweak. Move the verts up a tad to add some curve to the surface and try Push again.

Oh migosh!!!
This is so cool Stroker!!
I should have tried this "Soft Selection" long ago.
Now with it I don't even see the point in using the Push Mod ; )

Thanks a million Stroker :)
