View Full Version : CS and Maya ( no, this is not a topic witch is best )
For the past 3 months I learned character animation with Maya. Before this I knew CS. Man, what a relief in Maya. It was really great to work with. Most of my stuff I did in the graph editor. It was a new world.
Now I'm going to do my intenship in a company that use CS. So, I'm freshen this up a little bit. My God, what a pain I have to do some animation that I like. I can't finish anything. The workflow I learned I can not translate this to CS.
Would like to know if people who know Maya and CS also have this problem or is it just me. Offcourse, I'm just freshen CS up since a few day's.

Hey man I am with ya! I learned Maya in school and got a job doing CS animaton. It was a nightmare. I hated it everyday. I loved animating but CS is so restrictive. The workflows are VERY different. I just made sure that I still did a little Maya animating every night to keep that workflow too. It just takes some time. After a little while I could animate all day in CS and go home and do the Maya workflow seemlessly. I wish CS would just go away!
I spend some more time with CS now but still don't feel to animate something. When I open Maya I can't wait to start animating.
offcourse, there some nice stuff in CS.
We'll see in 1 month after my internship.

I actually first started out using CS and then went into Maya
Telling you what, making that hip move is really what sold me into Maya in the first place. CS sucks, although I've heard some good things about the new version that just came out.
Let's just hope they fix that 'head blow up' problem

oh man Brandon,
Now you've got me kinda scared!! I'm going to work where you used to and they'll have me using CS. I wasn't thinking it would be too difficult of a transition because animation principles are the same wherever you go, and all I'd have to do is learn some new tools. I didn't realize that the max side of things was so hellish compared to animating in Maya. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to tough it out. I'll never stop with Maya tho . . . NEVER!!
btw, how ya liking it at Todd's place? later.
