It's looking pretty good so far Chi. Only suggestion would be to try having some growth coming out to the breasts from the bottom to make them look more like naturally occurring knots in the wood.

ooooooh! back it up one! I think the textured version had something going, but the latest update makes it just a little too obvious. You have a really great design, with a pretty subtle figure. Nice work.

05-23-2002, 12:45 PM
Yeah I also agree that the previous one was cooler, more moody... Although you really should focus on your model and finish it before playing with textures and lighting :shame: hehehehe...
Great concept! Good luck

Learne to spell "REALLY" if your going to use it more than once in a sentence.

On the other note, not much of an update CHI sorry I missed you on ICQ, Storyboard in full colour takes a lot of work. The school heater was broken today to so I was sweating like a pig, we all actually took our shirts off and had all the windows open, and its actually fairly cool outside. Weird eh? anyways I won't be around till 12:30 your time the rest of the week so you'll have to try catching me then or early in the morning before I go to school (9:30 your time)

Nice work so far want to see more, like the stone would like to see a bit more detail in it, to simple right now.

thats all cool then, for replies you get updates, testing some grass

leigh
05-27-2002, 03:23 PM
Hey Chi - that grass looks pretty cool!
Now, seeing as this is a forest challenge, let's have some more trees!! MORE TREES!!
:bounce:
Actually, I was wondering - obviously you are going to add more trees (well you'd better :wip: ), well, are they all going to have bodies like this one, or is this one dryad in the forest?? You could make her some kind of oracle - kind of like the Sibyl, and you could have a little altar with offerings from people who have come for knowledge - maybe a little pool full of copper coins or something... Just a thought :)

OH U GREAT!:bounce: ...........great idea,great style! rokkabummm!

chi
05-27-2002, 06:58 PM
kaiskai- as long as i can still draw i feel no need to have knowledge in the arts of spelling :) talk to you later man oh yeah learn to spell learne

leigh-i love that idea, of the oracle, my main focus so far has been the model of the one tree that what ever i had origionaly planned was lost:(, if you dont mind i would like to use your idea :)

i think it would be cool for me to eventualy model a male companion, a picture showing kind of a eternal bond but still a certain degree of seperation. but for now i need more TREES!!!!

the grass alone tripled my render times :(

oz- i aint no oz :) at least not yet

update soon if i can get something out before work

chi
05-27-2002, 07:20 PM
ok so i took grass out for now, gonna add more trees later,
id also like to know what you guys think of the enviro/fog
next on the list building a pond.

k enough of me talking image time

leigh

That's looking rather nice, but it's pretty tricky giving an opinion/crit on an environment without colours :surprised Even if you just use temporary textures, it will give an indication as to what the scene will look like in the end.
And yeah, go ahead and use the idea! that's why I meantioned it :p

WOW...Great start Chi....I was hoping somone would take this sort of approach to this project.:bounce:

A forest of these would look fantastic. I followed you modeling of the box last time roun (IM sure it was you wasnt it.?) and I think that your more than capable to pull this off:thumbsup:

kaiskai...youre always picking on ppls spelling...do that make any sence..?:p

haha the box :) it took along time to make that my friend :)
its ok that kaiskai picks on my spelling we go way way way back, well mabey not that far, but its all good
thanks everone for the replies updates to come

LucentDreams

I always make a spelling error in my comments. I am typically harsher on Chi than anyone else, and we all do it, but you won't get anybetter at typing weithout someone pointing it out once in a while. I always try to be lite about it and not mean or nothing.

Like it so far, like the male companion idea to go for it if you have time. Sorry we can't get a hold of each other, so busy right now, two all nighters with only 2 hours of sleep in the afternoon at an anmation disc, this isn't getting healthy.

05-31-2002, 12:14 AM
Whooo! good update! It's looking very misty and mystical. :D

I think the only crit I've got right now is that the water looks a bit too crisp compared to the softness in the rest of the scene.

Good suff Chi

LucentDreams
05-31-2002, 02:02 AM
as wll, for amystic forest this one is all dead, no vegetation other than moss.

05-31-2002, 02:08 AM
Cool scene so far chi! I agree that the water is to crisp. Also the rocks look like old school Hollywood styrofoam rocks. :p Thats probably a temp texture anyways. Good stuff though.

06-01-2002, 01:47 AM
:buttrock:
I like the flood one it's nice than the other image
keep going and add more details I don't have any idea right now but I think it's need more details:shrug: Good luck

ZrO-1
06-01-2002, 02:15 AM
hehehe chi :p

Honestly though, that water in the flood looks sweet. I'd say it's a keeper

LucentDreams
06-01-2002, 06:32 AM
Ahhh much nicer and a great idea, but the really great water is losing its believeability and effectvieness on the foreground by the front rock. The illusion is lost as soon as you get that cles and see that the water is infact flat and not conforming to the to the surface it is againts. Find me on ICQ tomorrow sometime early and I'll tell you how to fix this in XL7 simply using materials no extra modeling needed.
