View Full Version : Animation: Lavalamp
tonfarben 09-02-2003, 09:08 AM Hi!
I´ve made an animation of a lavalamp yesterday. Enjoy!
Made with Cinema4D 8.1 with Thinking Particles module. Used Chanlum for wax-effect. No GI here, just standard 3point lighting and only procedural textures.
Movie is Quicktime Sorensen 3
Any comments and suggestions?

I've done one of these before, and you've made exactly the same mistake I did; it all moves about 5 times too fast!
I really like your render setup though, when I did mine it was all toon rendered.

I made a few mistakes more I realized. Main Thing is why put a lavalamp into an environment which is very highkey? So I made a few changes to my lightsetup and I´m rerendering now. Also the specular of the wax is much too high. I reduced it. Second animation coming soon!
What do you mean with rendersetup?
It´s normal raytracing, threepoint lighting and a raydepth of 10.
Changed that, now I have three spotlights, main one casting shadows. Inside the lamp I have a spot with visible light, but not casting light to emulate the lamp which makes the heat.
I made the flow slower and I tried to achieve a more liquid feeling. Wait for next animation!

looks good overall but i think the lava flows too fast. It takes some time to get it warm and when it is, it really doesn't move fast either :D
