Well this is my first time posting in CGTalk's 2D forums. I just purchased a wacom tablet so I'm giving it a run to see what I'm able to produce. It's my first painting so well C&C welcome, just dont cut me too hard :p.

Done with photoshop 7 and first hand sketched from a reference photo from a calender from the 2003 Wyman Publishing (http://www.wymanpublishing.com/) Wolves. (Just giving proper reference)

I don't know why no one has replied yet, this is great work!
You captured the wolf very well, but I dont like the saturated green background, its distracting from the wolf.

Very nice work my man....i can appricate the attention to detail...lots and lots of time is invested in creating realistic looking fur. You know what's funny...i recently did th exact same thing you did. I got a Wacom Intuos 2 and wanted to see what i could do with it and i also created an animal...except i did a bulldog. I also used a reference photo to draw it by hand then scan it into photoshop...so cheers! I also don't like the green background, it distracts from the wolf i think too. Maybe re-think that. Check out my bulldog and tell me what u think..it's also in this forum. Keep puttin up more revisions:thumbsup:

thanks for the reply you two, the green background is going to be a forest scene after, might make it more winterish i just wont want it to blend in too much.

thanks again :)

nice work:)
you just have to watch out for the masses and form of the head, bacause if you get involved in all that fur which is difficult to paint you can lose sense of sculptural quality of 3d head!
keep up
