View Full Version : Lighting glass....help please.
I know you have all seen in numerous advertising of wine,perfume,wine glasses etc. How can I achieve this effect.It's alot harder than it seems,any link or tut will do for the following 3d app.

Well I'm a newb in 3ds but pretty sure I can get you started. First make a lathe object. I think lofts look better for glass, but this will at least get you started. Here is info

Then you have to put a glass material on it. I would just use the standard glass material that comes with max. It even has 5 or so different shades to work with.
Now rendering is the tricky part. Just to get you started put a skylight for global lighting then change the default lighting renderer to something other than the default. Make sure you put the "bounces" setting to 1 or 2 to maximize "that real glass look". The best glass materials are found in the Brazil renderer though. Check out

That should at least help you get going. Check out the post above by VisualBoo with a billion tutorials in it for futher specific information. I apologize if that is to basic and you were looking for something more specific, but your post leads me to believe otherwise.
