View Full Version : College/University choices (Canada)
Namdead 02-21-2010, 05:13 AM I'm a grade 11 student who only recently decided that I wanted to get into 3D Modelling. My high school doesn't offer much but I will be taking in Grade 12 Graphics and Animations. My question is what sort of assets should I build while still in high school to become a 3D Modeler and if anyone from Canada (Toronto) can tell me good choices for Colleges/University that would be a big help.

If you want to stay in the Toronto area I'd suggest Sheridan's Bachelor of Applied Arts Animation course. I've heard a lot of good things about Sheridan's quality and this program is directly focused on animation arts. (I wish I had taken this course)
What I'd say you should be working on right now is traditional art skills like drawing, painting, colour theory, etc... If you're already taking art classes at school, then bonus! If you want to practice 3D then that's great too. I wouldn't suggest anything specific, just think of something fun you'd like to make and learn as much as you can.
Good luck!!

My biggest worry is that I'm not the greatest artist and drawing isn't one of my strong suits. I don't have any real drawing experience or painting. I've always wanted to get into the Video Game industry and I found 3D Modelling to be very funny when I was just screwing around with 3D Studio Max and decided I really wanted to learn how to do it professionally. Thats why I'm not sure how much drawing skill I need and how much I really have to learn drawing.
