Time: 54 minutes
Program: Photoshop CS4
Description:
He marveled at his luck. having been thrusted into the role of Dragon Slayer against his will he was relieved that in the end the mighty giants had fallen by their own greed. For it had been in the setting of the sun that the fever of gold had come upon the beasts and they had torn themselves to shreds.

I got carried away with this one and I was learning to use photoshop brushes and used Creeto's scale brush which is pretty cool. Thanks Creeto!

A couple of young boys fighting over whose stuffed dragon is best. :)

About an hour, I think.

Creeto - I love the warm and cold colors mixed so well like that!

brookselliott - Your illustration reminds me of the covers of the Xanth books...

Oyuri - for some reason this reminds me of harry potter... no clue why.

crozer - this looks like the end of the die hard series where the hero is alive: barely.

very awesome guys!

Silenceimpaired - thanks for the compliment. Yeah I think it's no longer a sketch when I spend over 2 hours on it. I didn't use any reference but it does kinda remind me of some of the cover art for those books after you mentioned it. I guess everything we draw comes from some kind of reference whether we are aware of it or not.

A real piece would have cool clouds, some lighting sense, some dragons breathing fire and whatnot.

No dragons were harmed in the making of this picture.

Her0d - man that's awesome, simply awesome
sandsekh - you can almost feel that pandora breeze :D nice colors, again :)
Creeto - both are nice but I prefer your first one because of composition and colors

here's mine. I was satisfied with it until Her0d submited his sketch :D and again I exceeded given time. My problem is I cannot stop until it looks right to me, so I'm correcting things, diving into details... wasting time. I always try to be quick but i forgot about it along the way...

Final, about 3h...

Hello , great stuff everyone.

Creeto: Very nice color palette in your piece.
RoyalFlush: cool rendering and posing, my only crit is i think a little bit of space
in the left of the canvas in the direction of dragon scream will help the composition a little , from my point of view. Now, for me it feels just a little bit claustrophobic because of the proximity of the canvas margins.

Her0d: I like very much your ideea by having the dragon dark against a well lit background ( contre jour if i spell it wright).I wish i had this ideea first. :buttrock:

elmo3d: Cool composition. The way the scales of the dragon makes the eye move around the painting and the connection it makes with the second dragon is awesome. The only thing i can say is just maybe making the head of the second much bigger might create a little bit of space and sense of hierarchy in the painting helping the viewer to get implied in the action.Great Work

Here is mine:
one hour, photoshop, hope you like it.

DanBrush (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=21549), very nice action! It took me a moment to understand what's going on,but it's really great - I can feel the speed, the fury.Very dynamic!
Her0d (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=108473), I really like the sky and atmosphere. It looks scarry - a great shadow falling from the sky - seems dramatic, great atmosphere.

Thanks Creeto :) Yeah it's been awhile, wish I could contribute more regularly.

---------------------------

DSC - Very dynmaic scene, the action reminds me of the dogfights in the old war movies.

sandsekh - Nice work...like the strong Silhouette and brilliant fire pouring forth.

Her0d - Dark, gloomy and sinister. Cool angle too :)

gingerbreadman - It shows you don't need a distant shot to convey a dragon. Even at an extreme close range it to reads well. Good job!

elmo3d - Wow! The intense warm and cool palette is mesmerizing.

curlyhair - This one has an excellent narrative quality to it. Very cool.

DanBrush - Hands down the best in exaggerated foreshortening. As a viewer, I fell like I'm free falling right through the epic battle. Great work.

Enak - You really put a creative twist on the subject. Quite funny :)

Advarsky - Those giant senewy necks really capture the turmoil of battle!

Silenceimpaired - A lot of compositional thought in this one. I dig how the dragon's back resembles a mountain with trees.

Creeto - Very cool intensity and drama happening. I also admire the loose and abstract feel you've maintained throughout the piece.

brookselliott - Ha! Another packin' dragon with a full automatic :)

Oyuri - Great composition and original interpretation of the topic.

Crozer - Nice dragon design and shading.

Creeto (the second edition) - Ah, this is sweet man :) Really conjures up a great story.

Sazem - Modern man against ancient dragon. Great intensity and lots of action!

Royal Flush - That's a wicked looking dragon...awesome.
