View Full Version : Joints not rotating

I set up a new scene, reset the tool settings on the joint tool. drew a couple joints, and they don't rotate. They somewhat twist in X but other than that nothing. when i rotate in Z or Y, all i do is rotate the child joint in its place, the bones go nowhere.
Also when i translate the top of the hierarchy, it moves independently of the chain, as does any joint in the chain when translated.
not sure what is wrong, but...
sounds like you're moving the pivot of the individual joint, not the hierarchy itself. what happens if you create something else and try to translate it/rotate it? like a polysphere?
is the move pivot tool locked down?

Ye by holding "d" you move only the joint you have selected, so maybe you have the d key stuck lol?

no, that isnt the problem, if only i were so lucky...
I have another version of maya installed that i never use, and it works fine on that version.
My thinking is i must have done something to a setting to create this behavior. However it couldn't be in the joint tool settings because i have reset them.

i found out the problem, I had "preserve child transform" on in the rotate settings.:wip:
