I'm a newbie in 3d world in general, i've used 3SMax5 for a while, but then i switch to A/W Maya4.0.
I'd like to know how do I render an animation into an AVI in Maya4.0. I've tried to render into an AVI but it only showme the last frame.

If you selected AVI as ouput format in the render globals window you'll have to start a batch render (go: render > batch render)

But it isn't a good idea to render AVIs at all. Maya can export uncompressed 30 fps videos only. It's much better to batch render an image sequence and put your frames together by a compositing app like virtualdub.

yep... I think AVI it isn't the best way to export a finished work. But i needed to export a video, not a sequence of image. I'll try virtualdub.
Thank for the tip
