After a couple of years working for clients and lots of experiences. (As our company mostly creates online promotional applications, with some simplified use of 3d and animation), we decided to begin working on a new site concept/animation.

The main goal is to build a interactive animation where the visitor/viewer desides wich scenes will be played. To create this kind of environment we are building a world where different stories can be told.

In this thread I will post only the 3D WIP, if you are interested in the sketches and more background info, you can go to http://willemvdkrieken.blogspot.com/

gorgeous. I've always wanted to do something like that myself but I'm not so much a modeler. really great stuff. I look forward to seeing more

We have made some new testrenders of the animation and scene integration. As we develop in different programs for animation and scenery we have to combine these in post.

The environment is looking fantastic! I'm not sold on the character for some reason though.

@ Palohman, thanks for your reply, could you be more specific on your comment on the character, or is it based on what you like or not? We did lots of tweaking of the character. We are happy with the result as it is. Perhaps we will change the textures though.

regarding the character - just a personal style preference, nothing is actually off about the model or design, great work really. Maybe I'll come around once i see it animated:)

cool!!

I think if the balls were the ones lit up and around it darker it would be more dramatic

Really Willem, fantastic work. I have no crits whatsoever. I really like this! Concepts look brilliant. The sculpts look brilliant, very nice interesting shapes. The choices of colour are excellent. I will most definetly stay updated for this one my friend.

5 stars from here!

We did some tweaking in the mushroom. We added some light to the balls in de mushroom, for some more dramatic look. besides that we are currently testing the DOF per shot.

That looks great! I love the mushroom now. That telescope is also really well done and great style!

the style of the first scene looks great too! the render of the environment is nicely done.

Animation wise though the character seems a little floaty and could use some quicker and tighten the keyframes. There's a dead spot after he flies in where he's just there and nothing is really happening after his big move in. Also when he flies off afterwards the path seems too even. Keeping the same overall time of the flight there, I'd try greatly speeding up his take off, like WOOOOSH! then hang a bit at the peak and then whoosh down way faster into that loop, leave that great hang time you have now, then come down with more weight. He seems to be stuck in the air for a beat there before he lands, maybe add a quick hover? like a small up then your fast down into the land. I dunno.

anyways, looking great! awesome and fun project to be working on! keep up the amazing work! :D
