View Full Version : Making a poster look plastered on...
lowlevel21 02-18-2010, 04:20 PM can anyone direct me to a tutorial or give me an idea of how to make a poster looked plastered or glued onto a wall?...it suppose to have wrinkles and what not, but when i try it it doesnt look right to me....maybe even a photoshop tutorial that may assist me would do aswell...its going to be a still image so 2D tuts may help me out...anyone?
software used: 3dmax 9
renderer: final gather(if that helps)

Try a cloth simulation with a horizontal plane falling to the ground from a tiny depth on some scattered objects, dents or the like. Convert the result into an Eidtable Poly, add some thickness with a shell modifier and put in on the wall.

.... or just add a texture in a normal/displacement map.
you'd spend hours futzing around with a cloth simulator to get the same result you could create in photoshop with just a few clicks. not to mention your resulting cloth would need to be insanely tesselated to retain any of the surface detail..
