There is a white transform node that is the parent of a set of joints. I can't get rid of it. When I move the joint to another parent joint a new transform node pops up. Does anyone know how to get rid if this transfrom node? All my joints have freeze transform on them. There is no animation of the joints.

a hack way is to create a locator and point and orient constrain it to the root of that hierarchy. delete the constraints, and unparent the hierarchy from the transform node with 'preserve position' checked off in the options box. then point and orient constrain your hierarchy to the locator.

Not sure why you had the transform node if your joints were zeroed. I run into this a lot when bringing skeletons in from max into maya but usually not when fully creating something inside of maya.

You can use the connectJoint command to parent the joints back without the extra transform node.
This usually happens when you parent joint was scaled, thus when you try to re-parent a joint under a new parent with a different scaling it will insert the transform node to preserve the current joint transformation.

Cool, thanks fellas. This is a rig from Max. Can't wait til Autodesk makes Max and Maya able to talk to each with ease.

Thanks for the help fellas,

yup! That happens when coming from max. I use that locator trick for it.

In the end, I have to do it some much that I just made a script that re-created the skeleton with the same positions/orientations but with everything zeroed out.

Hey, that's a great idea.

Thanks,
