View Full Version : Help- Sub-d Texturing seam distortion
chewsti 02-17-2010, 03:09 PM I am having an issue working in Maya 2009. When I render in sub-d's the textures are stretched and distorted on the texture seam.

Are you sure your mesh/UV's are 100% clean? looks like a stray vert somewhere.

if it looks like everything in the UV editor is merged properly select the uv border on it and do a merge uv at a value of .001

Hi there,
are you rendering with the smooth mesh preview? Try changing the UV smoothing from 'Smooth internal' to 'Smooth all' in the attribute editor under Smooth Mesh -> Extra Controls. If you did the UVs first and changed the topology too much afterwards, you probably have to unwrap you mesh again.

all this stems from is that modelers are always aware of how meshes interpolate in subdivisions but not how UV's interpolate. your issue looks similar to when a vert isn't welded and is the subdivided. so maybe the same happens when a uv isn't welded when it is subdivided. hmmm...
