Hey guys, Im looking for a place to learn 2d animation. So far I've applied to sheridan. Cal arts is out of my price. What are some other places to learn 2d. The art institutes don't seem to great. I've tried googling and all that, I cant really seem to find a list of 2d schools.

Thanks in advace for any help.

If you want to learn 2d animation, maybe take a look at SJSU's animation program.

Hi

Try this school, they have very good techers, and you have also 3d and stop-motion curses.
I'm what to go to this school.

Good school, but if the OP can't afford Calarts then I don't think SCAD would be affordable either.

Below is just the tuition fee. Other fees can be found in the link I provided.

Calarts: $36,166.

SCAD: $29,070

Thanks everyone.

gawl- thanks I didnt even know that school existed. Im looking into it.

Hmmm this is coming from an ignorant outsider. But when I look up student work of SCAD on youtube, none of it seems that impressive. A lot of their work was missing weight and some students seemed to not understand spacing, even in their senior film. Once again this is coming from an outsider.

So far the only schools that seem worthwhile are Cal arts and Sheridan. Ringling seems pretty good but it seems to focus on 3d. Hmmm. Im thinking maybe I should just take drawing and illustration and learn animation on my own? Once again thanks for all the help.

Max the Mutt in Canada seems to have a very strong 2d program and is only $10K per year! You aren't going to get any less expensive than this.

Hi Booleanspline,

We offer a 3 year undergraduate diploma in Animation at Seneca. We are located in Toronto. Our tuition is between 5 - 6 thousand a year. If you look around, you'll find a bunch of courses in Canada that offer animation for less than 10k a year. The first two years a focused on character animation and the third you get to choose your stream between 3D Character Animation, or Game Art and Animation. If you have any questions, you can contact me through the email in my signiature.

Sincerely,
