Fluid and Liquids from Blender - whats teh status ..Is it still do-able?
Camera motion/matching between the two apps.

i would suggest not using google, i've never found it to be helpful in doing my research. especially when looking for links, it's remarkably useless.

Kool. folks use to pile in links in one common thread back in the day or even drop a notice of how something didn't work before and now have a better way of doing it .

I haven't been find a camera exporter/importer for the 2 apps and wondered if there was a
underground movement using both apps.

We used it for some animation in blender MDD out to LW and also MODO.
Works 100% just make sure about your vertex order not changing.
Actual pipeline was model 3Dmax/ texture MOD/rig and animate Blender/render LW,Modo.
Also throwing in tracking backplates with both Synteyes and PFtrack.

How did you camera matching between blender and lightwave?

Modo can load .lws so I thinks that covered.

We didn't need to match the camera between apps...so never explored that.

AFAIK Modo can no longer import LWS either, so you need to explore option if you want to do that.

export collada from Lightwave into Modo seems to work pretty well. FBX may also (but I had issues with the cameras and lights and some objects snapping to 0,0,0 worldspace.

I use a plug-in from Splotchdog for fluids from Blender to LightWave.

There was a video about matching cameras in lightwave and blender but I just can't remember where it was posted. In blender, the camera motion was exported as a .mot file that was applied to a null in layout which a camera was attached to. As far as camera settings, I think there was an issue with renders not matching at some resolutions even with the same focal length but seem match when setting the resolution to HD. I actually haven't tried this but this is what I remember. Hope it helps

I've been messing with lscript and wrote this (really) simple script.
bhair2Curve turns the bhair polychain into curves and puts them in a new layer.

Convert the blender hair particles into a mesh, export as obj, load it in modeler and apply the script.
These is one of my first few lscripts so they are really noobish. Feel free to modify and repost. I've only done simple tests and it seems to work fine.

Sorry, but honestly, I didn't really find that smoke in the Post Earthquake New York City video to be all that impressive. (Some of his other smoke effect videos were a bit more convincing.)
I also didn't like how in the video, when the camera moved up and pulled away to reveal the destruction, that the smoke moved with the camera, as if it was superimposed over the scene.
Unfortunately, the best solutions for smoke, at least, the ones I've seen anyway, tend towards the expensive side.

I would not say that, look at this videos my friend:

Video 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeF2e-IrKSA&feature=related)

Video 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_-j9H5-LmM&feature=related)

Video 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB1SncveT7w)

and so on.

If you do the right settings in Blender you can get some really great effects what fumeFX etc. can do :-)
