This system sets the standard for BS in the industry.

Let me get this straight... so if I buy a game I've got to wait 4 hours for it to download and install unless it disconnects? But that's good since they've got more games on the system than there are game dev houses on the planet. Certainly saves me the trouble of going to the store since I can [only] buy it online! Due to release the first of April, so not much more of a wait left.

The real benefit that the Phantom offers is a benefit to Publishers. If the concept sells, the Publishers will be able to stream their games online and avoid the reserving of costly shelf space. Knowing that PC Games retail shelf space is actually shrinking, the Phantom would purportedly give every publisher an even shake at the gaming audience.

The trick is the speed of the connection. Games are fairing in at 2.5 Gigs these days and growing. Downloading a title would be a herculean task even in pre-install form.
I would temper the success of the Phantom on one angle. The ratio of sales between online and retail sales for any given title.
If it is extreamly low, then there is little chance of it succeeding. If the ratio is high and growing, then they may be on to something.

So, there is a chance that the Phantom would/could have some players underwriting their production and rollout.

A potential caveat is its ambiguous system specs. The system ranges in CPU speed, Memory and video capabilities. Its much more a PC than the XBox and is using the Windows XP kernal.
