Hi! started on my first real blender project today, but ran in a minor problem when sculpting.

Its a fairly simple mesh which I modeled (using the sub'd modifier), uv mapped (applied the mirror modifier), and now im at the sculpting stage.

Ive disabled the sub'd modifer and instead added a multi-res (subdivide to a level of 4), though when I click on the model in the sculpting mode the red circle remains static at the initial click position, though the mouse cursor will follow my movements - and no effect on the model what so ever.

If I add a second object to the scene, same process as above it works fine...

I suspect ive clicked on something, tried fiddling with the settings to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Turns out you can only paint/sculpt in perspective view, not orthographic. A daft mistake I won't be doing again :)

Naw. You can sculpt in either perspective or ortho views. Make sure the Tool isn't set to Layer. That doesn't work yet. In fact, it makes the circle freeze at the initial click-point while the mouse moves freely.

Switch to the Draw tool for starters.

interesting, ive just tried again and checked the tools and layer doesn't appear to be selected. If i change to orthographic then it certainly doesn't want to work...atleast on this model.

Ive got another quirk which im trying to figure out now, having similar problems in texture paint mode, I can only paint directly on the uv in the "UV view" but not onto the 3d object.

Just done another compile this morning.
