Hello, Boils and Ghouls

So i have a concept in my mind going on, but still not sure for the final output.. I want to make a Bmovie of the Crypt Keeper, the famous horror episode in HBO. I think i was 9 years old at that time.. lol so here's my rough sketch..

oh here's some information from wikipedia about the movie.

Tales from the Crypt, sometimes titled HBO's Tales from the Crypt, is a horror anthology American TV series that ran from 1989 to 1996 on the premium cable channel HBO. The title was based on the 1950s EC Comics series of the same name and most of the content originated in that comic or the four other EC Comics of the time (Haunt of Fear, Vault of Horror, Crime SuspenStories, and Shock SuspenStories). The show was produced by HBO with uncredited association by The Geffen Film Company and Warner Bros. Television

my approach to this image is like a photo montage.. base on my concept sketch ill be gathering different kinds of pictures from google.com and cgtextures.com and put it in my scene and set up the light and shadows and the mood of the image. more like a matte painting process.. only it's an interior shot. :) any comments and suggestions would be very helpful..

my aim here is to make up a phot realistic studio set up. Crypt Keeper would be sitting in a cozy leather arm chair.. near in a fire place with spooky backgrounds and spider webs etc.. hes about to introduce the story of the episode "You, Murderer" (1995) is particularly noteworthy since it was one of the first shows ever filmed that used computer effects to digitally insert actors into an episode. The episode was directed by series producer Robert Zemeckis, who had recently directed Forrest Gump which utilized these effects.

so heres my 2nd concept, this would be my layout for my whole scene.. but still going to make further changes on the process..

What a cozy and inviting scene.. except for the fact that it's the CryptKeeper, of course! :) Looking back at your earlier posts, it seems clear that his arm is draped over the high side of the chair because I can see the chair unobscured in previous images. Now the chair is mostly hidden so at first it reads as though he's just got that front arm in an incredibly awkward angle. It might be nice to hide the chair less so his arm looks less awkward.... or move the arm so that it's "in" the chair instead of draped over the top. Good luck!

You've really put a lot of attention into those details! I really like the warm color cast you've added too. The only thing is that now, everything is pretty much the same color and with an equally high level of detail. Without changing either of those things, you could experiment with value contrast more to guide the eye more to the CryptKeeper instead of letting him get lost on the background. What if the area behind him were darker and he were a tad lighter and had a nice rim light on him (warm from the fire on the right and cool from the moon on the left) to help him pop for the background? The contrasts could work the other way, too: For example, it took me a while to notice the gun, but if you lightened up the wall behind it, the gun and arm's dark silhouette would pop against the wall more and it won't get as lost against the background wall.

But overall: Really lovely work. Good luck!

i know that almost all posters are portraits style

Not true. Most movie posters these days are portrait shaped. But go search around the web for old b-movie posters and a lot of them from decades past were different shapes and proportions. Plus you're overthinking it: The assignment here is to do a B-Movie image, not a poster per se. No one is going to care whether it's portrait or landscape... except for you. So in the end it's up to you... but to me it feels silly to spend all that time detailing the entire set only to crop it and show none of it because you think it should be poster proportions. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Hum I don't think, but my english is not perfect, so maybe I did not read the rules correctly, but I wasn't going to put text in my compo too.

Well, tales of the crypt was one of my favourit series when I was younger :) !
your comp match very mutch the feeling of this cool TV-show.

I like the details work, colors and lights, it's great !

just one thing, it's personnal, but maybe your image need more depht, I don't know how you could play with that because you have already done so much work. maybe : play with warm tone in the front element and cold in back, or invers. so Mr, creeper will pop up.but that just an idea :) your comp is already great.

You can recheck the rules, but I don't recall ever reading one that said "your entry MUST have text in it." I actually liked the text in your image, but unless you find a rule that states that it's required, you can take it out if you like it better that way.

I will add that everything is reading a lot better than it used to - nice work on those improvements!

Well, First off, let me say it looks great. You have three contrasting sources of light right now. The blue moon is too bright I think. The candle doesn't read since there is no halo around it. Its up to you to pick which you want to be your main source of light, the fire or the moon. Right now my eye keeps jumping to the moon - you want my eye to keep going back to the cryptkeeper.
