View Full Version : need help merging edges

hi i know this is probably a stupid question but here goes, i am teaching myself maya and in the tutorial i have been following to create a head it said to convert my nurbs to polygons so i could then merge the pieces together and convert to subdivision surfaces, the problem i have is merging edges, when i go to merge the edge of the eyesocket to the actual eyesocket piece i have a problem because i can't do it, that is the edges that show up purple to be selected are only on one object and not on the other, i have also tried merge vertices but that does not work either, it sucks to be so close to finishing the head model and not be able to do it help please

i have attached an image to the post to better show my problem

the most common mistake here is the person not combining the objects first.

You can try using CleanUp Polygon on the object. Try deleting history etc. That might help aswell. cranking up the tolerance and merging vertices should work however if merge edges doesn't

yeah i didn't combine the objects first i figured it out thank you for your help
