Archertech 08-31-2003, 08:08 PM I love cg..its the one thing which makes life worthwide..i'm so new to using Maya as well..i took some classes at Centennial college but it isn't that good...its just really messy teaching..
i saw alot of peoples work here, really amazing..i have all these images in my head which i want to bring to life but i still haven't been able to understand about Maya....and still trying to find a job..anyways here's my first picture i did using maya..
i know its not very..."WOW" but i'm very very new at this :buttrock:

well there are tons of tutorials for beginners on the alias site, check them out, and for the model, the head started out nice, but give it some more definition, and the body need more details, but hey, it's your first one, just keep on modelling and you will get better with time.

Kepp workin at it, it will get easier and easier as you go. Just keep at it and study other peoples mesh's and tutorials and you will do fine :thumbsup:

i wanna go to VFS so bad!!..but to pricy..

thanx, i'll do my best.
so many buttons in maya thats driving me kinda "insane" haha..
i wanted to know which kind of tutorials/things i "have" to know in Maya if i want to be a cg film maker?

I wouldn't settle with Maya for modeling, I'd try out Cinema4d and 3dsmax as well.
Centennial college's base digital media program isn't that good, their extended (expensive) program is excellent though.
Try out Seneca's DMA program, its not bad.
Have you just started modeling? And if so have you started with NURBS/Sub-d? I find it personally that working with Sub-d in Max is much easier and faster than doing the same in Maya. Using both programs on daily basis at work, it shows how much better Max's modeling workflow is compared to Maya (although Maya is way better for animation).
So try different things, keep posting your work, and yeah, you'll definitely will get better every day!

i think VFS 3d animation& visual effects program is a little better tho..
and yeah i know..i just started maya using nurbs(that pic is just pure nurbs)....and gonna take some classes for Max within next week for so but i think i should focus on Maya more ..^^

I would suggest focusing on modelling with polys.

--I will be taking the 8 mnth Digital Animation Course at Centennial College In June 2004 , is this the good course that you are talking about?
