View Full Version : why do my models affect one another?
Hi there! Well, thankgod ive finally been able to setup a "normal" rig for my monster. I have another problem now tho. I wanted to use 2 monsters i made in a short animation, but now, whenever i put the 2 together they affect eachother, whenever i move the foot targets, for instance, when i rotate my whole character, including the targets, the other model's targets also move.
I have made these targets with use of WESWARE's tutorial and i have the feeling that the problem could lie there...i have no idea where tho!
does anyone have an idea of how and why this occurs?
tnx in advance!:)

Sounds like you have both meshes in the same heirarchy level with the bones, and your bones aren't properly restricted. If so you could fix it the easy way--by putting the two characters in separate nulls--or the right wat--by making sure the bones are properly restricted.
O no! i thought it worked, but for some strange reason it is faulty once again. what i did was, i opened a new scene. I copied the model, placed in a a null, from a scene and placed it into the new one. Then i copied the other model, also in a null, and copied it in the new scene together with the other model.
Strange thing is, that as soon as i paste it in the new scene, the targets from the model that was already in it go weird and the model is somehow immediatly affected.
strange this...i have no idea what could be wrong now, since they are both in speretae nulls?

Have you somehow restricted some verts in one model to the other model's bones? Did you copy/paste the rig and maybe include some vertex or CB maps?
tnx loads and loads for the help!
I finally got it right now, it was something i had overlooked in the first place. The rig was essentially the same, tho i did make it twice, but i did make 2 identical copies for the leg rig, this also included the coffee expression, which takes care of the leg bone "bendability",(man what kinda word is that!) by constantly checking the rotation of a certain bone, in my case, the Ankle bone. So what would happen was that if i rotated target Lfoot for model A, the coffee expression would also rotate target Lfoot and look for LAnkle, but of course, since there are 2 models which used the LAnkle bone, they would both be affected.
so when i changed the names of the bones and applied the leg setup again, it did work :)
sorry for the long story and tnx again for the help!
