hi folks, Im having issues when baking normal maps to my low poly mesh in maya. The normal map picks up info from the low poly model or somthing after i bake because it becomes all checkered :argh:. Im just blundering my way through this and rigging at the moment so please excuse me if i ask noob questions.

at a quick glance, this looks like the mesh you are extracting to has flattened (or hard edged) normals per face. Try turning them all smooth then extract again.
