View Full Version : Will biased normals solve this?

I'm trying to model a creaseless curved hole in a spherical surface without using Booleans in v8.5. My most efficient patch arrangement to date is shown in the image but the tesselation in the five pointers is less than optimal. Further subdividing around the hole to reduce the five pointers is an option but I'm wondering if the bias normal option in v10.5 will be sufficient. I would appreciate opinions whether this is the compelling reason to upgrade that I've been waiting for.

Thanks

Hi Rodger,

I don't think the biased normals would solve this but the new implimentation of porcelain surely would.

Is that reason enough to upgrade?
