lets say you are starting of with a new short movie or still.
Lest say that you are going to make this street with all the houses a couple of humans some garbage and so on...
do you make all these thing in the same scene, lets say if you finished with your house and you now whant to start of making that dog.

Do you just place the house some were in the 3dspace of maya and turn of visibility,
or do you save your scene as "my cute little house.mb" and make a new scene and start of with your dog. And when all your models are done you import it to a new scene and set things up the way you like it.

do you get me?

Hi CnexS..:)

I've 2 huge scenes :
this scene (http://www.deviantart.com/view/2772638/) has 3,081 objects 147,095 verts and 267,955 faces
while
This scene (http://www.deviantart.com/view/2847625/) has 3,916 objects 839,956 verts and 1,652,622 faces

So how should we deal with a huge/large project scene ? here's some tips :

Planing
1. Create your Blueprint 2D Planing from top view and save it as my_project_scene.mb

Modeling
2. Start to build your model, never build your models on the same file, every model should be done and saved separately, you must concentrate to finish each model by 200% (inlcuding texturing, shading, scaling, etc), never think "ohh i can repair it later"
3. Save it separately (ie big_house_left.mb, big_tree_right.mb, dog_run.mb)

Merging all together
4. Import your models one by one to your project scene, while importing model, make sure your model placed at the right position and right scale, every of them.

Finishing
On this step, all you have to do is adjust the lighting and camera position

Tips
Avoid tweaking models on your huge scene

Ok...i hope it helps...:)

OT : Oh yeah..CnexS, I still don't have much time with Maya Live tuts  maybe next week :)

jupp that helps.. i was a little confused caus ive used animation master before and there you could have all your models in the same project but in diffrent windows "hard to explain"

you dont have to hurry the tutorial.. ill be active here for 2 months more, then im going into the military for 10 months

but that ftp will be up 24/7 all year around

if you have msn you can add me if u want:
