onizuka 05-21-2002, 04:29 AM Dear all,
i had model a character's face out but after i combine the polygons together, there is a centre line appearing in ht emiddle of the whole face! how to remove the centre line?
Anybody out there , can assist on this?
Thank You!

delete half of the face and use mirror tool in polygon or edit polygon menu...

Or try select the head,> editPolygons> normals> soft/hard> all soft,.

could move the polys manually to get rid of the line...

double-check to make sure that you don't have some loose vertices hanging around on the border between the two halves.
Merging Multiple Edges is fine, but it doesn't always combine vertices along the edges.
So, go along and drag select along each of the CVs along the middle of the face. Then go up to the Channel Box and click on the thing that says "CVs (click to show)". If you see two or more rows of numbers come up when you click it, then you need to merge those CVs.
This won't fix the ridge-line in the face, but then you can select the middle 4 or 6 columns in the middle of the face and try Average Normals. If that doesn't work, then try softening. All of this stuff works best with contiguous surfaces. If you have broken surfaces (ie unjoined CVs) then you'll have a more difficult time getting the results you want.
If none of this works, the grunt method remains.

have you tried to mirror geometry before smoothing and checked "merge with original"?) ...just making sure...
When i smoothed one half first and then applied the mirror command i got the same problem but when i did it with my base poly mesh and after that applied smooth it looked smoooth :)
good luck...
