Hey. Here is a 40-second piece of
character animation I did as a Junior at MCAD.

Juggling is kinda hard to animate.
It took me a while, but please...critique the hell out of it...

Please look at this version: (8.8 M)

Excellent!
I have been wanting to try and animate my avatar juggeling for a while, but haven't had the guts to try it yet.
Any tips?

I animated the arms first, then I made an invisible ball parented to each of his hands. I switched the visibility of the flying balls and the parented balls on the frame when hes supposed to catch and again on release. Simple but mind-numbing.

Hello Henning,

that is excellent animation - I have to say for something that is that tricky to do, you've pretty much nailed it on its head. Stunning results. Even the bits where he was just juggling was very very good and then you had him flip around and continue juggling.

colour me green with envy.

Green you are so kind. Jockomo: learn to juggle yourself before you animate it, thats my tip.
Any crits now? Bad stuff that I need to fix up?

Excellent animation. I love the style as well.

As for crits, the only thing that caught my eye was that the wrist seems to flick very quickly rather than rotate sort of smoothly to toss the ball. But I don't/can't juggle, so what do I know. :p

If you were going for realistic animation then I'd say that the wrists bend a little too much and the arms not quite enough - when I juggle most of the momentum for the ball's movement comes from the arm, and the hand almost flattens out after throwing to further propel the ball on it's way.

However what you have works well with the style of the character - great stuff! Music is spot on as well...
