View Full Version : Stop Staring: Eye Rig - cannot find procedure "CBdeleteConnection".
JaredTaylor 02-06-2010, 07:31 AM Hi,
The stop staring scripts don't work.
When I try and generate a eye network with controls it just says:
"cannot find procedure "CBdeleteConnection"."
And the controls are left bunched up at the center of the character. It only generates some of them.
If I create a network without controls then it works, but the book doesn't say how to manually setup controls.
Useless! Can anyone provide a solution?

Don't really think that it is the Stop Staring script, well not exactly. I had some strange errors too when I was starting out with these scripts. I think the main thing that solved many of my troubles was to very careful with my naming conventions, for example never have two things named the same and never use Name_spaces.
I did a quick search for your error and a couple came up with this, Can you try
source generateChannelMenu.mel;
In your command line.

I searched before posting this, not one single thing exists on the internet that troubleshoots this problem. Running that script doesn't help.
The script doesn't start if two things are named the same. Additionally, I've tested it in a blank scene, a scene with just a cube, etc. and it still doesn't run.
The script itself is broken. It's not on my end :/ And I don't have time to fix his stuff.
Just deleted all my prefs and still nothing works.

Using the ssShelf first click on the 'ctrls' button, and then just close it. Then try the 'eyes' button it should work fine.
Here is a test scene with just the eye joints that works for me if I do what I mentioned above.

Don't know if this will help, but if you can't get the scripts to run.

Hi,
I appreciate the effort :)
Here's the thing though.
I open Maya.
I click the 'eyes' script.
It gives a purple error saying: "// Warning: ss2_Search : did not find search target" but loads okay regardless.
I click 'create -> generate eye network and controls' (diverge has same result) and it says "// Error: Cannot find procedure "ss2_controls_makeControl"."
But if I either type 'ss2_controls' in the command line OR open/close the ctrls script, then run it again it says "// Error: Cannot find procedure "CBdeleteConnection"."

I'm not savvy enough to set that up I'm afraid =/ Very new to facial rigging here.
Ok I might be able to set that up, but one question; my eyes aren't eyeballs, they are just pupils that are translated around the eye socket (which is a cylinder) - I'm rigging a doll like thing. I need them to translate around, but it rotates instead.

The stop staring eyes are for rigging rotation of eyes and fleshy movement of the eyelids.
like this animation (http://joel3d.com/Movies2010/aliceeyestest.mov)
Your going to have to come up with another way.

Also I think you need to have the ss2 Shelf installed.

Well there aren't any means of learning besides stop staring and stop staring doesn't teach you properly, it just makes you use scripts that do everything for you so I can't learn anything from it.
Guess I'm going to have to just wait until I start at school tomorrow and ask the tutors.
Shelf is installed.

try
source channelBoxCommand.mel;
within the channelBoxCommand.mel , there are all these smaller mel_subroutines .
-------
you can also manually "breakConnection" any object in the channelEditor ( with RMB ) ... once you do that , the "channelBoxCommands" will be loaded automatically by maya .

Ok I've got yet another problem, when connecting the blendshapes to the network it doesn't connect the eyebrow blendshapes, only the mouth blendshapes.
