View Full Version : Duplicating Joints

I have a simple palm tree that blows in the wind (animating the gravity settings in the physics solver). I'm good with all the physics and making it all work.

But once I've set up one tree (with joints, etc.) is there a fast way to duplicate the whole thing and have multiple trees already rigged and ready to go?

I've tried highlighting the whole hierarchy and EDIT, Duplicate. This copies all the geometry, the bones, the markers and nulls (used in the physics). But none of the markers have rigid bodies any more. None of the nulls have joint physics applied. I've lost the parent/childs that connected the bones to the markers... etc.

Any one have any thoughts or success with this?
Thanks in advance.

You might do this a few ways, save the tree and then import the file as many times as you want to add trees.

I don't think duplicate keeps track of the physics property but you can duplicate all the nodes, then select them all and drag/drop the ridged body on to the selection and it will apply it to all the objects in one go.

Brilliant!
Import the file as many time as you need--I would not have thought of that--but it makes perfect sense.
Many thanks bclark!
