CGTalk - Samurai Beaver!

After maybe a year of dreaming of modeling this character in 3d, I have finally begun.

I drew this samurai beaver for a competition to draw a cartoon fighter. well, I really loved my little beaver I made up but I didn't even know how to make anythign in max back then so I decided I would wait till I knew something about max to give it a shot.

modeling in 3ds max5, rendered in brazil 1.0

I'm nearing completion :D

what I would like to hear from you guys are comments on how to improve him, make him more ninja-style, and just things I could add. This is my second 3d project I have done so I may not be able to do everything :| hehe

it seems hard to get a reply on this site, dont worry , i think it looks pretty close to the concept, so keep it up , just one thing are you gooing to animate him? because it might be hard to the way the legs are but keep em coming :)

yeah im rigging him just for fun. i got a bone in the haunch that controls the whole arch or "haunch". but this is only my second thing ive made in 3d so im kind of a noob with bones :|

Looking great! Very original character. I like the fact that he is so unconventional.
I agree the legs make him hard to animate but then again if you are creative you can pull it off, the result might be a really original walk that would fit the character, all the better.

lol, its looks like a fun concept to develop. but since this a critique ill give u my opion and u can take what u like. first i think u should decide if u want a samurai or a ninja, very different. samurai are noble warriors proud to die and give there name before battle so it is known who is going to kill the other so there will be honor given. ninjas are silent hiddden warriors who could be samurai sent on secret mission by thier master but would dress dark to help avoid detection. samurai armor is very bold and colourfull not like a ninja at all. so i think it is important for u to decode which style to go with

2nd i think his shoes are lookng a little to much like balrina slippers

3rd i would soften the abs a little, the almost look like he was cut up instead of cut muscles

4th i hate to say it cause its such a fun idea but he really doesnt look much like a beaver, hes actually looking more like scrat form ice age. i would look up some images of beaver and do some charactures of real beavers.

hope i didnt come off to harsh, im real excited to see how u develop him. good luck
