I can get a pretty good price on the card, right now I have a 9800 gtx 1gb. Is it worth getting this card? Maya is my main software I use and a little gaming.

Most probably no. It's a specialized hardware, and the benefits will be evident only to those who really will be able to use it (for example some compositing software and so on). The benefit in viewport's speed isn't worth the price just for maya. Maybe just upgrade your videocard to something like geforce GTX260 series.

A geforce 9800GTX with 1gb is not a bad card. Not bad at all.

I'd just keep it and save some money if i were you.

The Quadro FX 3700 is the counterpart to the 8800GT consumer card, but has a lower memory bandwidth. Both have a G92 chip on board. Itīs not a bad card, your 9800GTX has a higher bandwidth and will be faster as the FX 3700/8800GT.

If you need implicit a Quadro you should take at least a FX 3800 with G200 Chip, itīs the counterpart to the GTX260 consumer card, but has a lower bandwidth as the GTX260.

You know, Quadros are pricewise (much) more expensive as their counterpart consumer cards, even though they have a lower bandwidth - last-mentioned you probably didnīt know.

Not to mention driver support for Quadro cards is sluggish.

not to mention the lack of CUDA/OpenCL cores. It's not a very future proof card. The GTX Geforces and the Radeon 5870 are better that way.

The FX3700 is configured using NVIDIA’s control panel, which offers a wide range of settings for the card. One of the nicer features of the control panel is the option let the 3D application decide the appropriate settings for the card :)

I'd buy that for way too much money.

This isn't Quadro-specific, my friend Goldi. All Geforce cards have per-application settings for 3D applications. And Maya's no good at determining any of these settings automatically.
