Hi all,

I'm beginning the book Building a Digital Human and am having trouble resizing my Top, Right, and Front background JPG images. I'm using U.S. standard units because the book indicates that the model, "Frank", is 5'8", but I don't have any ideas about how to make all of the reference images the correct size for modeling. I'm willing to use any technique - whatever might be best for newbies. Any help greatly appreciated. :)

Instead of using it as a viewport background, put it on a plane with the same aspect ratio. That way you can adjust it to be any size. You will find that your model doesn't get misaligned with the image. It also helps if you apply it to the plane with a 2 sided material. Then flip the plane so that it's facing away from you so it can't easily be selected. If you need to maintain a left and right to the image, you wil need to flip it in the material editor or apply a UVW to the plane and flip the gizmo.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, Darv, your reply helped a lot. I had to check the image size in Photoshop and do some math to get the proportions right because the book's author didn't include them in the text, but I think that the planes should work fine.

I made three planes and placed a material with the bitmaps front.jpg, right.jpg, and top.jpg on them. I can just hide the planes that I'm not using. Thank you again!
