the gag doesn't really work cuz we've seen it in Monster's inc. If you're going to copy a gag, it should be better thant the original or have a good twist.
The comedic timing on the whole thing is not too good because the characters are too small to get a good look at them before the punch line so that ruins the joke as well.
And finally the guy's fall has a pop, which draws attention away form the gag and onto your animation skill.
I'd say give them a more humoristic entrance to begin with...with a shot tighter on the bodies where their attitudes are clear. And the gag should somehow be more constructed. That's for you to think about.
But it is a good practice for sure, i think you got it.
